Custom detailing

Integration was key on this project. It was important to match materials from the existing home into the new space. The blending of mesquite, pine and cherry on the ceilings, walls and cabinet fronts plus the design details created a unified look that emphasized the client's aesthetic values.

The final design incorporated a large conference room, home office, guest bedroom, study, conservatory, mudroom, catering kitchen, two baths, foyer stairs and three two-car garages. The highest quality of materials and craftsmanship can be seen throughout. Materials included solid cherry paneling, mesquite and cherry floors, leaded glass doors, and special "cold cathode" lighting where every tube is custom made to the exact shape, size and matched to the specific color temperature.

the coved ceiling with the concealed lighting. The open doorway leads to the conference
room.

In the office space, the large desktop is centered between cabinets that house all the necessary office equipment on pullout shelves, leaving an open uncluttered look. All of the equipment is neatly stored behind cabinet doors that virtually disappear within the wall panels. The HVAC return air supply is disguised as a vertical slot within the corner of each room.

This detail shows several of the hidden cabinets.

The conference room (pictured below) has media cabinets spanning the width of the conference room. Beside the cabinets are wall panels that hinge open to a small hallway space. Windows in both the office and the conference room are equipped with electrically operated sunshades (see detail below).

The conference at home allowed the client to be closer to his family. And special concessions were made to the children in the design including a secret door in the paneled wall of the office which opened to a small playroom.

This detail shows the automatic sun shades.
